I was induced at 40 weeks with Dawson. It was a great experience. Super fast birth, no pitocin needed because cervadil did the trick. Water broke about an hour after contractions started, went from literally 0 dilation to 10 in 3.5 hours. It was a really good experience.
I have that same option this time. Part of me doesn't want to do another induction because I want to know what it feels like to go into labor on my own (which my body is making some progress, better than last time) and the other part of me remembers how great things were with my induction with D that I'm kind of considering it again. I'm extremely nervous going past 40 weeks due to some really scary stories I've heard of meconium issues and aging placentas etc. I have some time to make my mind up but I just don't know what to do.
I plan on having another epidural so the contractions being worse with inductions doesn't bother me b/c as soon as I reach 4cms I'm asking for my epidural. I know that many people don't support inductions unless they are medically necessary. I also know that inductions can lead to c-sections etc. Natural birth can lead to c-sections. All births can lead to c-sections. I'm okay with that risk. I obviously much prefer a vaginal birth and I know that it's better for both of us if we have a vaginal birth, but if this induction were anything like my last one it would be amazing. I just can't guarantee that.
What to do, what to do....

I think ultimately it's up to you. I would keep in mind your body was probably about to go into labor on it's own for your induction to work so well. Inductions on a woman who is NOT ready or about to go into labor can take up to 3 days (after 3 days most doctors section) so you might not end up with the same experience this time as honestly your induction story is NOT the norm. The less drugs needed in an induction the better the story, like yours. I was not induced, but because the doctors thought my 1 cm per hour (which is the norm) was not fast enough they decided to start introducing drugs, which really messed things up for me. So be aware this time that could happen.
However I honestly think you'll be going into labor on your own this time. I really don't see you needing to be induced or given meds. I think that little girl is very excited to come out and isn't going to give you any trouble!
Well I will give you my 2 cents :) I was also induced with Aubree. The day before her due date was when we decided to do it (the doctor only suggested it because my blood pressure was starting to rise a little). I was already 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced so I felt like labor was coming sooner rather than later anyway. Everything went PERFECT with the induction and I was very pleased that I did it because I was able to plan ahead and knew exactly when she was coming etc. I think since you, too, are already dilated to 2 cm and already 60% effaced then you are a good candidate for induction as well. Just my 2 cents. I'm sure that when I have my next child, if my body is pretty close to going in labor anyway, I will probably be induced. Especially since I will need to plan with who is going to watch Aubree, when, and where so you have a little more time to plan. I wish you all the best!!!
Here's my take...Go as long as you feel confident in your body. If you go to 40 weeks and are getting stressed and anxious about whether you are going to go into labor, you might worry yourself into not going naturally, you know? If 40 is your magic number, then 40 it is.
Amy- I see what your saying. I know that it's risky, which is probably why I'm so uncertain. I hope she comes on her own too!
Kelly-It IS mighty convenient to be able to have everything lined up and not have to jump at a moment's notice.
Beth-Thanks for that. I know you've had natural births and a home birth and so to see such a nonbiased opinion from someone so far on the other side of the fence from me is great. I agree. I think I'll do exactly what you said. When I start to feel uncomfortable in what my body will do I can always let medicine take over.
