Today is a sad day.

This morning a very good friend of ours was killed in a freak accident on the lake. He was fishing with a buddy and thrown from the boat where the propeller then struck and killed him. He leaves behind a 2 year old daughter and a wife. My heart hurts. I've vacationed with this couple. I've sat down to countless dinners, date nights, laughs, and joys. He was at my wedding and I was at his. He was living the same life I'm living. Young, married, parent of a toddler, trying to enjoy his morning fishing. It is absolutely devastating. For his family, his friends, and our community. My husband is heartbroken and dumbfounded because while he sees terrible accidents all the time, it's not so close to home. I can't imagine how his wife, his now 25 year old widow, is doing. I can't bring myself to put myself in the middle of the misery yet. It's too soon. We are letting the news soak in with the family first because in this community that's what you do. Honestly, it's just so shocking that it's hard to believe. He went out on that boat this morning with his friend, he left his home as a father and a husband and now he'll never be coming home.

Some things I never want to forget.

I felt the baby move for sure the first time on May 17th at a little over 17 weeks.

Every night before Dawson goes to sleep I ask him if he had a good day and his response is always "yes" and then I ask him what he did today and he'll give me the long or short list of his day's activities...then I ask him what he's going to do tomorrow and he'll say "ummmmmmm, ummmm, ummm, ummm, what are you going to do tomonnow (yes that's how he says tomorrow) mommy?"

The last thing I say to Dawson every night is "good night bugs I love you" and he says " I lub you too mommy" it melts my heart every single time.

I forgot to tell you that morning sickness did end at 14 weeks just like with D, but unlike with D I have killer heartburn every single day and am currently taking 2 zantac 150's a day. I didn't have a single day of heartburn with D and I can now attest that heartburn sucks.

I haven't taken a single belly picture although with D I took them every week. I'm definitely showing, but it's like it's not really important this time. (Reminds me, I have to order a maternity bathing suit ASAP.)

I had a mini melt down on May 15th where I told my husband that I didn't even know if I wanted the baby. I know how bad that sounds but our family dynamic works so well as a family of 3 and I'm admittedly terrified of having a newborn in the house again...then I felt her move. Now I'm finally feeling really excited but still overwhelmed and terrified.

I have been the worst blog commenter ever, but I promise I'm reading them all.

It's been a while.

Ya'll I know I've been awful about updating my blog. I apologize, but life with a 2 year old is hectic for sure. We are still potty training and it's going well, except sometimes Dawson refuses to get off the potty and other times he tells me to put a diaper on him. So I don't push it, we just flow with whatever he's feeling. I have done some shopping for baby girl (who we will be calling Allie, I just don't know what her legal first name is going to be yet) It's exciting, but overwhelming too. Part of me wants the next few months to crawl by and another part of me wants them to fly by. I feel like getting prepared for baby number 2 is WAY harder than baby number 1 was. But gradually it's coming together.

We spent the last weekend camping and D had a blast. It was also mine and Daniels 5th wedding anniversary. I can't believe how fast 5 years has gone by.

Time really does fly.
